The day I almost committed murder.

So many unexpected things happen in life and it leaves us in an emotional or unstable state. We become confused and helpless, not knowing what to do next. Our response can be very rash, leading to greater controversy, but staying in control can be of good benefit.

I am a very calm person who barely gets angry, but it isn't easy to stay calm in some situations, especially when my well-being is on the line. I can overlook so many annoying things but you can't toy with my life like it means nothing.
It's my first time in this kind of situation and I am not certain it won't be my last.

I have always enjoyed friends' company as an extrovert, and it's fun. We can gist, catch up with each other, and share life experiences, educating ourselves. So I had some friends around a while ago just to chill for the weekend, like a girls' hangout, but there was no typical plan.

We intend to make plans when everyone arrives, and it happened like that. We planned a few activities like playing games, watching, and making sweet meals. Everything started perfectly, we went to the market together to get soup ingredients and it was fun like we did in school.

Immediately after we arrived home late in the evening, we started preparing our food. We were gossiping while doing that, and the food was delayed. By the time we finished cooking, it was late for me and Yemisi to eat a heavy meal so we settled for some cookies and Zobo drink.

Only Pelumi ate the fufu and delicious soup prepared but I tasted it though. That night, we completed a Nigerian series on Netflix, and we were hungry again at midnight, so we ate more cookies while Pelumi still ate one fufu again.

Already, I was feeling cheated and declared that I would eat two portions of soup in the morning. They laughed at me and we chatted briefly before we went to bed.

We woke up late, and Pelumi was the first person to go to the kitchen because she was already complaining about her hunger. It's her usual thing so I wasn't surprised.

Pelumi screamed from the kitchen and we were scared.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"Nothing, I just remembered something. I will just make some rice," She replied.

"You scared us," Yemisi replied and we decided to clean the room while Pelumi made breakfast.

We did all that and freshened up. Pelumi served breakfast and she gave me two portions of soup. We enjoyed the meal and went out to enjoy ourselves later in the day.

The weekend passed quickly, and it was time for everyone to go back to their places. We planned on making the meet-up a regular thing, but it won't be my place next time, and that was before the disaster struck.

I followed my girls to the park, bade them goodbye, and returned to my cousin's place, who is a fashion designer.

I was gisting her about the weekend and was checking on my friends at the same time. Thirty minutes passed, and Pelumi sent a message to our WhatsApp group saying she had a confession.

"Did you pack my dress?" I replied before she could say anything.

"No, I didn't. It's more than that," She replied.

"So what is it?" Yemisi asked.

"I am really sorry about this and I did it because it won't hurt anyone," Pelumi replied.

"What is it?" I asked running out of patience.

"You both need to promise not to get angry," Pelumi replied and we agreed.

"Yesterday morning, when I screamed in the kitchen, there was a cockroach in the soup, but it was just in one corner. It's because I didn't cover the pot well and just removed it before reheating the soup," Pelumi replied, and I had to read again to be sure I wasn't seeing something else.

"So you turned the soup away?" Yemisi replied.

"Have you forgotten we ate it with rice again?" Pelumi replied and I was boiling already.

"You must be joking?" I replied, but Pelumi insisted, claiming that her conscience was disturbing her.

I felt like strangling Pelumi, but she wasn't there, so I took out my anger on a mannequin. Thankfully, I didn't damage it and just went home to wash the pot thoroughly.

I told Pelumi that I could have murdered her if she were with me and I didn't talk to her for days. She apologized for those days consecutively, and we forgave her, but I promise not to eat whenever she cooks again because she could poison us.

Yes most times the unexpected happen to us and if you are not careful you can end up harming yourself we just need to be careful on how we handle things

That's true... It's nothing serious.
