Technology's impact on healthcare

in SciFi Multiverselast month

Like many other sectors, tech has had profound impact on healthcare over the years. Before this decade, there were surgeries that weren’t possible, diseases that didn’t have a cure, phenomenon that couldn’t be understood. Now, all that has been made possible with technology.

Let us take surgeries for example. Surgeries are cleaner now. Clean incisions are made with little to no signs of an incision thanks to laser technology. Surgeries that couldn’t be done years ago are now done regularly.

With the invention of better tools and machines, Surgeries are now faster, better and have lesser complications. In fact, surgeons make use of robots to carry out certain procedures. They can stay far away while they operate the machine and perform a seamless surgical procedure.

Plastic surgeries have become rampant these days. A lot of people are undergoing plastic surgery to look much better or to correct an anomaly and it’s been working out great, thanks to technology.

On the aspect of medications, we’ve had better medication because of better tech. Scientists do research and make new discoveries because we have the tech now.

Artificial intelligence has made it possible for researchers in the medical field to find better therapies for conditions. With the help of AI, we’ve been able to find new kinds of drugs that would otherwise have taken years to discover. We’ve made so much progress that diseases that seemed like a death sentences back then are now things that can be well managed while living a long, healthy life.

Also, with the help of technology, we have been able to disprove treatments that didn’t really work or that had harmful effects.

With the aid of technology, diagnostics in healthcare is much better. There are machines to detect different kinds of anomalies in the body. MRI scans, CT scans, ECG and others have been absolutely critical in finding out and diagnosing disease conditions.

I have learnt of several cases in the past where people were wrongly diagnosed, and were being treated for the wrong condition while the patient kept getting worse. In such situations, the healthcare professional usually ends up in confusion. Not just the healthcare professional, the patient and loved ones as well. The patient and their family end up spending all they have treating a wrongly diagnosed condition. This happens because diagnostics tools were never present or advanced.

Now we have better technology to accurately diagnose disease conditions from the onset.

In conclusion, technology has made healthcare more efficient and this has resulted in longer life spans, reduced mortality, and better quality of life for everyone.
