Good day to my wonderful people! Trust our day is going smoothly. This week prompt on scifi multiverse is quit interesting and I think I have alot to talk about base on the topic asked to talk on. Just try read my entry till the end and see my own perspective on Social media matter
Sometimes I look around and ask myself, “Na wetin really dey happen to this generation?” Everywhere I turn, teenagers dey glued to screen, scrolling like life dey inside their phone. It makes me wonder: is social media helping them grow or slowly eating them from the inside?
We can’t deny social media has open plenty doors. From learning new skills, building communities, to getting inspired by people from all over the world, e get serious advantage. A teenager fit sit down for one corner in Africa and learn how to code from somebody in Canada. That one na power
But at what cost?
The same platforms wey dey inspire also dey destroy silently. Teens will wake up and the first thing they do is to check how many likes or views dem get. Validation don turn digital. Many don forget say their worth no suppose depend on filters, likes, or comment sections. And sadly, this is where the real issue begins inside their minds
Low selDepression. Anxiety. Body shame. All these things dey grow silently in many young people today, just because of comparison. And the worst part be say, most of the things wey dem dey compare themselves to no even real. Fake smiles. Edited bodies. Borrowed lifestyles. But dem no dey see that side
Instead of using social media as a tool, many don turn it to a mirror. And na that mirror dey lie pass
The question now be: where are we heading? The future of our adolescents dey hang on balance. On one hand, they’re exposed and informed. On the other hand, overexposure don dey harm them mentally and emotionally. Yes, they sabi more things now, but sometimes I wonder are they really growing, or just consuming?
Will this generation depend on social media for everything confidence, knowledge, direction, even love? The answer go depend on how we handle things now
I believe say the real solution na balance. Social media no be enemy, but make we use am well. Let teens understand say e okay to log out, to rest, to live offline too. Make dem know say real life no get hashtag, and fulfillment no dey come from follower count
Let’s raise a generation wey go know when to scroll, and when to stop and look within. Because if we no help them find themselves now, the world we dey build go be full of lost souls smiling for camera, but breaking in silence
