From netWORK to netROCK; the tale of a digital heartbreak

What kind of rubbish is all these? Why are you guys frustrating me like this? I blurted out in anger and frustration over the phone to the customer care representative who had nothing but apologies to offer me.

Don’t apologize, I need solutions not apologies. You guys have been frustrating me all through the week and telling me to keep doing the same things without result. Anyways I don’t blame you, it’s MTN I blame. You are not MTN, you are only working for them, I finally blurted out in frustration as I hissed and dropped the call.

At this point I was close to tears. It’s been a week of utmost frustration. MTN my network provider has frustrated the living day light out of me. I was at a loss on what to do. I had just bought a new router which I was to use for my new job as a sales person for a real estate company.

I was to work remotely and out of excitement, I had gotten a universal router with an MTN SIM card which was duely registered. I didn’t know how the data consumption is and I didn’t want to hear stories that touch the heart and I had excitedly recharged 100gig data on the new sim and router.

I started using it for the first two days and everything was fine. All of a sudden, network left on the third day. I called the customer service of MTN and they asked me to refresh my sim and do one or two things and the network would be fine. I did what they asked but the network didn’t work, my network has turned into a netROCK.

I had to use my personal sim to work on the third day. The irony of this issue is that if I put my personal sim on the router, it works perfectly well but if I put the router sun where I had over 100gig, it wouldn’t work. The frustration here is the fact the MTN gave me 50gig bonus data which wasn’t working at all despite everything. I even took the router to their office to no avail. They reregistered the sim yet nothing worked and they asked me to put data into it which I now recharged 100gig costing about #18,000 for router subscription plus the 50gig data bonus that refused to work.

I had never spent such amount of money on data before and I was feeling like a billionaire without knowing that I was in for a major heart break. While I was crying that MTN has scammed me by giving me 50gig that I couldn’t use. One of the staff in their office said she encountered the same thing when she bought her own router. Can you imagine? She said she wasn’t able to browse with the free data until she recharged another data. This is pure scam in network provision places.

So how do you console a customer who has over 150gig on a router sim that she can’t use else where except on the router and it would never connect. The network turned from network to netROCK. This was how I was directed to the main head office and they said the engineer is not around. I kept moving back and forth Mtn office until I was totally frustrated after spending so much time and money until the 150gig expired.

I was so heart broken and frustrated as I didn’t know what to make of it. Both the offline and online customer care reps kept making promises that the issue Will be fixed but nothing happened. My frustration and pain was deep and even till now, I have not forgotten what MTN did to do. They have always been my service provider and has been somewhat consistent but this scam and heartbreaking experience from them was one that I would live to remember for a very long time.

That's sad and annoying. Spending such an amount and not end up using it. These network providers need to do better.
