As human beings we have that urge to always wanna know more, try out new things, unwrap the mystery, or bite more than we can chew. I guess we got the trait from the first creation on earth. So in as much as the future of man is a mystery and like a black market of which we can't get to know what really lies in there until we unwrapped it, of which we still wanna unwrapped.
Truth be told, if we are placed at a spot of knowing right there what is at stake for us in our future or what it holds for us OR to walk away without knowing, we would think twenty-twice before deciding to walk away if we decide to, or proceed to knowing our future.
Now, let's say this isn't about going anywhere or to meet anyone who is a fortune or future seer, but about a new tech innovation of a device that could see my future of what is in there for me. The complexion and height or full description of my husband and how many kids I'll raise, how rich I'll be and how of a kind of a philanthropist I will be, the possible things that might happen to cause me pain and so on. Will I still choose to get this device or not?
One is certain, when you know your destination then it's easier to walk through the path of it's a good one or make alternative paths of it's a bad one so in one way it might be good getting the device to know what and what I'll be facing either good or bad.
Still, I don't think I will be getting the device. Why? Because the sickness you don't know about may not end up killing you but as soon as you know you have a sickness especially when the doctor isn't even prescribing any meds or suggesting a possible treatment and cure, there's higher possibility that the sickness itself won't be the cause of the person's death but the thoughts of So I'm actually having this sickness will end up killing the person.
What am I saying in this sense is that in as much as knowing what may come upon us in the future may be the advantage, what if there is a bad thing from the future since we might just be willing to hear the good alone and the device isn't programmed to give solutions or way out to escape those bad things?
The thoughts of that evil will overshadow our mind till the point of even misbehaving, doing the wrong things and losing myself in the act, all because we want to try to avoid the bad future.
Inventing such a device is not really a good idea as we know humans especially in my part of the world to be dangerous when it comes to knowing people's future. Fear City-village people.
The hopes of many who still keep struggling that things will be better in the nearest future may end up shattering because they came to realization that they will still remain poor. Depressed people might turn out to be many while few may turn out to be the perfect being on earth with little or no worries.
Just like my people would say:
Ohun ti eniyan ko Mon, o shagba e
That is, what you don't know or not aware about seniors you because you never knew about it.
