Genuine Friendships are like bonds that are so strong that could at times be compared to as blood relations and most times we often believe that nothing could actually cause space or rift between them.
This isn't about overconfidence but the level at which the friendship has gotten to.
For every iota of success in life comes with its own responsibility of which we don't want to accept when it comes to the people we love or that had previously endowed us with their attention and time. We feel the sudden change when they become successful or upgrade in life standard than us is due to the fact that we are not of the same level or life standard anymore which might not be true.
Maybe this would have been my orientation if I was not the first to be in this hefty shoe.
When I was still an employee, my work was such a draining one that I barely have time for my family let alone friends.
I felt off from my relationship with my family and close friends to the extent of realizing it myself even if they hold it back to tell me.
The only thing that helped me in sustaining my relationship or communication with my family and friends was because of me being a family-oriented person and I would still try to reach out or respond to their messages or missed calls no matter how late.
So with this first attack from my end, I had the knowledge of how one's level of success no matter how little it is can jeopardize relationships if care is not taken and genuine connection is not involved.
Later on, as life would have it for me stopping to be an employee, while my friends are now the remaining busy ones, I felt kind of lonely at first, realizing how the people who had complained of me not calling or texting them like before had felt when I claimed to be busy. Not because they are jobless and needed attention but because I was the calling type when I was not yet working.
The fact is we all face adulthood challenges or successful life in different manners and at this point, UNDERSTANDING will be the key point of sustaining the relationships.
It may even get to the point of expecting a successful friend of yours to help out in your current challenging situation and it looks like they don't have your time or doesn't want to help you out but rather want you to remain in your situation which may not be true and the fact remains that no matter how hard we try, we can't please everyone and likewise everyone can't please us.
In summary, I saw a friend's status post not quite long and she said which I quote
To some...I get pride
To some...I dey F*ck up
To some...I correct die
To some... I no be better person
To some... I be good person
.............
Naso life be... Anyone weh I be to you, help me manage am
