The Nigerian Dilemma: What Next After Higher Institution?

in Hive Naija27 days ago

Every year, thousands of Nigerian students graduate from higher institutions, eager to start their careers and make a meaningful impact in society. However, the harsh reality is that many of these graduates face a serious challenge know as UNEMPLOYMENT.

         factors that contribute to
         the issue of unemployment
  1. Limited Job Opportunities: Nigeria's economy is largely dependent on oil exports, which has led to a lack of diversification in the job market. This means that there are limited job opportunities available, especially in industries that are not related to oil and gas.

  2. Corruption and Nepotism: The reality is that, corruption and nepotism are common in Nigeria, which means that many jobs are awarded or given to individuals based on connections rather than merit.

  3. Economic Instability: Nigeria's economy has faced several challenges in recent years, yes it has including recession and inflation. This has led to a decrease in job opportunities and an increase in unemployment.

            The harsh Consequences
            of Unemployment
  1. Increased Poverty: Unemployment can lead to poverty, as individuals are unable to earn a steady income.

  2. Loss of Self-Esteem: unemployment can lead to a loss of self-esteem and confidence.

  3. Increased Crime: Unemployment can lead to increased crime, as individuals may turn to illegal activities to survive.

This is the reality we face today as Nigerian's but we pray and hope that things will change for the better and for the benefit of all.

                 Some few possible
         solutions to unemployment
  1. Diversification of the Economy: Investing in industries such as agriculture, manufacturing, and technology is needed to improve the countries economy

  2. Vocational Training: Vocational training and skills development in the education system should be strictly implemented.

  3. Entrepreneurship: Encouraging entrepreneurship and providing support for start ups can help to create jobs and improve economic growth.

  4. Good Governance: Good governance and a reduction in corruption and nepotism can help to create employment for job seekers.

(Employment fairness) We hope to achieve this one day, even though we know it's 99.9% impossible. Am sorry but that is the reality, but we are still looking out for that 1% possible change.

A friend of mine told me something not too long ago, she said, if she had known, she would have ventured in entrepreneurship instead of going to school, she believed her life would have been better, atleast better than the way she is now.
Well that would have been true but we never know, I told her yes there is a possibility of that being true but where would the fund come from?

One thing I discovered about our educational sponsors is that, you hardly find someone that will give you money enough to start anything, they would rather pay ur school fees bit by bit rather than give you money. you are free to comment on your different experiences.

So I told her, that money you are calculating would not have come to you one's, so there is a possibility of you still struggling, count it a blessing for being among those educated, when opportunity comes for employment know that you are also qualified to be a candidate.

Your input is very much appreciated on this. Thank you for stopping by.
