Insights from My Everyday Observations

in Hive Naija8 months ago
I never knew about these things until a few years ago, when I started being very conscious of my surroundings and sensitive to people's emotions. I didn't recognise them as facts; they were more like everyday feelings that I didn't pay much attention to. These are not hidden facts; everyone can relate to them.

The first fact I'd like to talk about is pleasantries. Have you ever been so burdened and lost in thought that you didn't even notice when someone came into your space? Then the person called your name and asked, 'How are you?' You lifted your face, put on a smile, and replied, 'I'm fine'.

I have observed that out of 10 people who said 'I'm fine,' only about 3% truly meant it. And I believe it's normal, because wouldn't it seem selfish to admit you're not okay when the other person might have more on their plate? Or maybe they weren't prepared to hear your troubles and just asked out of courtesy or pleasantries?

It's very obvious that responding positively to "How are you?" is a thoughtful gesture. It shields innocent people from shouldering your struggles and worries. Also, it somehow brightens the day for those who care about you.
If someone is genuinely willing to share your load, their words would go beyond a simple "How are you?"

Another random fact I'd like to share with you is about conventional schooling. In school, we're mainly taught the theoretical side of things.
At times, you might question how you'll use pi times radius squared as a nurse. Though some concepts actually help in critical thinking, others can be quite useless.

When they say education is the key to success, I'm sure they didn't confine it to classroom education. This notion has left many of my fellow countrymen bewildered, leading some to feel frustrated after graduating from university.

Our certificates were meant to be the ticket to our daily bread, but somehow they turned into obstacles to progress because we felt entitled to government jobs.
I've seen a graduate who chose to remain unemployed. He turned down lower-paying jobs because he felt they weren't worthy of his qualifications. It's understandable, right? Because how can you expect someone with a second-class upper degree to work as a driver for a wealthy businessman (who has no certificate) and earn just 15k or 20k monthly? Isn't that sad?
It's even sadder if they end up working as a security guard or a waiter at a fancy restaurant.

Some graduates opt to learn a trade or acquire skills. But think about all the time and effort we put into our education. Wouldn't it have been better spent honing those skills or learning a trade right from the start?
The fact is, schools often neglect to teach us how to generate and handle wealth comprehensively. I'm talking about wealth in all its forms: mentally, psychologically, and physically. Many graduates struggle with money management and delivering public speeches. Some lack the wisdom and confidence to lead in any setting. How can you build connections with influential individuals if your virtues haven't been transformed into values?

With the current state of things in my country, no citizen should confine themselves to classroom studies alone. There's a need for self-discovery and personal growth. I always urge my friends to not only read textbooks and school manuals but also to explore self-improvement books. These books can help us understand life's principles and provide insights into success, prosperity, and happiness.
If you look well, many of the wealthiest individuals didn't pursue higher education. What are they doing that we aren't doing?

Have you noticed that women are stronger than men?

This topic may be a bit controversial, but it's a fact.

I was just ten when I noticed my dad couldn't handle half of the stress my mom faced. During the birth of my youngest sibling, my grandmother took charge due to certain complications.
With mom's absence, he struggled a lot. He realised how challenging it was to manage a household. The pressure of cooking, getting us ready for school, and working, took a toll on him, both physically and mentally. It was evident in his demeanour. Meanwhile, my mom handled all that effortlessly, even in her pregnancy.
Some men struggle with emotional stress; they suffer the most after a breakup (hard to believe, right? I'm talking from what I've seen so far).

Strength goes beyond just muscles and six-packs; without endurance and patience, there's a tendency to give up along the way. Perhaps this explains why some men stray.

However, these facts are solely based on my own experiences and observations growing up. I'm eager to hear your thoughts on them. I'm open to any corrections and always ready to learn.

Actually the response to "How are you" is out of conditioning and habit. We are just used to of responding it with I AM FINE. Moreover, we are likely to share our problems with everyone we meet.

Hmmm about strength of women, I think, the strength of men and women lie in different domains. Women are more skilled at managing multiple tasks together. They are stronger at bearing the emotional upheaval brought by infidelity or break up. On the other hand, men are stronger in physical area and face multitude of hardships in the world outside the home.

I agree with you 💯
Men are physically stronger than women.
