The city of Aba, Abia State stood agog today, October 3, 2025 for the epoch making event marking the visit of President of the Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The President is on a working visit to the South Eastern region of the country, hence his visit to Abia State was scheduled for today, October 3, 2025. Part of his engagements in the state is the commissioning of some landmark projects by the present government ably led by Governor Alex Otti. Amongst the projects include the renovated iconic Michael Okpara Auditorium in Umuahia, the 7.6km Port Harcourt road, Ohanaku road, Ndoki road and others, all in Aba, Enyimba city.
These projects are a symbol of the commitment to infrastructural renewal and economic revitalization in Aba, which is a key commercial hub in the South-East. The commissioning ceremony, no doubt highlights federal-state collaboration in driving development and improving the quality of life for residents.
I had the opportunity of visiting the Aba Stadium, which happened to be the venue of the reception. The stadium was filled to the brim with representatives from various facets of Abia State's society. Various political parties in the state were fully represented including local governments from Aba North to Aba South, Osisioma, Isiala Ngwa South, Obingwa, and Ugwunagbo, etc were fully represented with their unique uniforms, contributing to the pump and pageantry of the occasion.
Village and town unions with their Traditional rulers and council, the clergy, market associations, schools, road transport unions, captain of industries, friends of the state plus men and women of timber and calibre like myself were in attendance. Lol.
Religious organizations were not left out as I spotted members of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Abia State chapter, the Muslim community and the traditionalists.
The atmosphere at the stadium was agog with the vibrant presence of dance groups, including the notable Abia brass band, traditional dance groups, the life band, DJ, etc. Even some schools showed up with their marching bands.
Less I forget, Exnel, Aba first son and other music artistes also graced the occasion.
Side attraction was the performance of a notable dribbler, Mr Football.
Security was top notch as security agents were seen at every strategic position - some armed to the teeth, ensuring orderliness and the safety of lives and properties. In fact, no be person go tell you to behave. Hehehe.
The atmosphere at the stadium today showcased Nigeria's renowned unity in diversity, a harmony among ethnic groups that had been lacking in recent times due to political tensions, religious bigotry and tribal clashes. It was heartwarming to see various ethnic groups come together to make the event a colorful one.
There is still hope for a better Naija.
The enthusiasm of the attendees as they patiently waited for the arrival of the Presidential entourage created a memorable scene, one that video captures perfectly but unfortunately I encountered challenges while uploading it on 3speak. I just hope it'll upload after now.
Unfortunately, I had to leave before President Tinubu's - rather his representative's arrival, which was no other than the Minister of works, Engineer David Umahi, due to an urgent call back to the office, but the few minutes I spent at the stadium were truly enjoyable and left a lasting impression.
Stepping out of the stadium arena, I spotted this Engineer, proudly showcasing his masterpiece at the entrance - a Mercedes Benz Jeep, what a cool ride. The engine is dope, the interior, oh my gawd - factory fitted. I could imagine myself cruising in it. Lol.
What ingenuity.
Well, I engaged him in a discussion, asking if he'd want to sell the car but he replied in the negative, adding that he only needs sponsorship. I hope luck shines on him soon.
