We all know that most times we are told, "Dress the way you want to be addressed." Well, for me, I think dressing in a decent way goes a long way toward helping one. Fashion is very important in the 21st century. It has become part of our daily lives.
Some years back, most people did not really pay attention to how they dressed or the brands they had on them. But now we are more aware of what we put on. Well, I can say that this is down to the technological evolution we have witnessed over the decades. Dressing well has become a thing, and we hear statements like "never be caught in fresh."
For me personally, your sense of fashion is important, as it says a lot about your personality. There is a certain charisma that comes with one who knows his or her dressing is good. A good sense of fashion promotes ones self-esteem. When in the midst of people, you would be bold, knowing that no one could look down on you.
Fashion is very tricky in the sense that one might have all the beautiful clothes but doesn't know how to combine them. Sometimes you will see someone in a beautiful dress, but the accessories are completely off.I remember a classmate back in university who had beautiful shoes, shirts, trousers, and T-shirts, but any time he walked into the classroom, everyone would be shocked by his dressing.
My wardrobe is a combination of different styles. It is influenced by my work and also the environment in which I find myself. In Nigeria, we have the rainy season and the dry season. When I'm buying a cloth, I take this factor into consideration. As someone who is staying in the Niger-Delta region of the country, I am most likely going to experience rainfall for the greater part of the year, so this also shapes my fashion.
As a teacher, one must be neatly and officially dressed. So most times I have to buy shirts and trousers in order for me to be able to carry out my responsibility without having a problem with my boss. I love good shoes; wearing good shoes promotes my self awareness and makes me happy. Most people overlook shoes, but it is important. I love wearing Nigerian traditional dresses. For me, the Ankra dress is unique and beautiful. I love them, and I always make sure I have them in my wardrobe. The popular senator dress always has a special place in my wardrobe. I use them for occasions like marriage ceremonies and other functions. I love them because to me they are simple but classy.
Going through my wardrobe, one would find a lot of football jerseys, as I am a huge fan of football. For me, these jerseys are easy to wear and not too complicated. Just have some black and blue jeans with some sneakers, and then you are ready to rock your jerseys. For me, it's my go-to style when I want to dress casual.
The way one dresses speaks volumes about the person. In a traditional society like ours, people look at you from the perspective of your fashion before even getting to know your personality.
