The neat thing about hive and also sometimes the confusing thing is that it is many things for many people.
The way you explained here about wanting to use for an excuse to keep writing…is kinda exactly how i used hive for years, and the really good use case. Write for you and memories. not for earning money, the money is just the bonus. For me, Hive has been my creative public journal. My excuse to write, share my music, my musings, my attempts at making videos. I have written many poems and short stories here. And of course family journeys and memories.
I like that i control my account. Nobody can say i broke some rule or ban me from the platform. I like that all my creative shares are there for me, like a shoe box in a closet, but better because Hive doesn’t collect mold. 😉
