Here’s the mind bomb: Learning to think — really think — is a survival skill.
While I was searching for some funny memes on FB (that's the main purpose of FB for me, 😀), I was forced to watch an ad about procrastination... And, to my surprise, I heard something interesting...
The guy was talking about why we procrastinate, and why we are doing exactly what you said in the post (work harder, rather than work smarter)... Also, you said the main CLUE in the sentence that I quoted... SURVIVAL! Our brain works on "survival mode" and because of that, whenever we want to implement some new idea, to do something riskier, to work smarter, our brain says: "F$ck that... That's too risky... We are going back to routine as that worked in the PAST... Why change it?"
Our brain makes decisions according to previous experiences from the past, and can't predict the future... Whatever works toward survival, and it worked in the past, is the WAY to do it!
PS. Maybe this is a bit off topic, but I wanted to share... and my brain made a connection with your post... 😃
