I arrived today at our team's workshop where we were changing suspension from gravel to tarmac dampers and springs. We were also working on the set-up of the car because tarmac on the stages of Czech Republic is very bumpy and last year's set-up was too stiff for that stages.
We were watching videos from special stages and comparing to set-ups of other drivers by watching their onboards. You just can't be quick if the car is bouncing all the time.
There is also a thing of tire pressures because in the racing tires, pressure rises very much as the tire gets warmer. That's why after warming tires, co-driver goes out of the car to make the pressures on the optimum. There is also a danger of too much release of pressure because in the dark, on the night stages, it can be too low pressure after releasing of it for the whole day. We had that situation two years ago at Croatia Rally where our tire pressure felt down to 1.6 bars and normally it is 1.8 or 1.9.
That's why we must take care about this.
So tomorrow is the test and I will try my best to feel the car and get some milage after four months outside of the car.
PLEASE KEEP YOUR FINGERS CROSSED FOR US!
