Onboard rally video of the day - Kalle Rovanpera with Toyota Yaris Rally1 at shakedown of WRC Safari Rally 2025

in Rally6 days ago

Hi, friends!

I hope that you watched live shakedown TV show from post I wrote you yesterday and that you enjoyed it same as I. If you didn't watch it, I will post bellow the same link where you can watch it, longer and shorter versions.

Safari Rally Kenya is known in the world of this sport as one of the most notorious with super rough terrain. Well, we saw last year in Greece what does it mean ROUGH by ourself, and top guys said that it was one of the roughest rallies they saw in their complete career. Yeah, Safari is somewhere there close to that Greek adventure.

During the shakedown, we could see drivers no talking at the stage ends because they are all offended by 10k euro fine to Adrien Fourmaux in Sweden because of cursing in the live tv show.

@driipam is on the driver's side but I would say that I am on nobody's side because my opinion is that drivers shouldn't swear in live tv shows where lots of kids watch this. And on the other side, I am with the drivers because I drive also and when being angry, lots of things can go through the mouth. Yeah...

Anyway, Kalle Rovanpera posted fastest time in his Toyota Yaris Rally1 in front of three Hyundai cars of Thierry Neuville, Ott Tanak and Adrien Fourmaux.

Real action starts tomorrow. Let the best win - as always...

I agree with you both, but either way, 10k is pretty steep considering whats televised these days!

I’d be okay with fining them if it was a reasonable price you know? Like 1000€. But beeping it ain’t hard either. 10k and not knowing where the money goes is fucking (I hope FIA heard me🤣) ridiculous!?

Agreed - 100%!! Interesting hearing the TV announcers trying to figure out what the drivers are saying (if they even talk) at the end of the stage....

But kids watch normal tv and people also swear? It just gets beeped out. Surely if the WRC is already emitting delayed starts they can also add another 10 seconds and beep this out too. If they’re insulting someone sure it would be bad but they’re essentially just criticizing their own performance. It slips out, not just in rally but in other situations too. I’m on their side until the end. You drivers are risking your life more in those 15 minutes than us normal humans ever will, adrenaline does a lot of things good and bad and again sometimes it just slips out
