It is nice to see that Irishman Joshua McErlean can cope well in the top-tier of World Rally Championship. He showed in WRC2, when driving for Toksport Škoda team, that pace is there. But it is not the same to be fast in the WRC1 category against the best.
Adrien Fourmaux showed in recent years that Ford Puma Rally1 machinery is still competitive when driven properly. But Fourmaux is now at Hyundai because his good drives brought him a top contract for 2025.
It is a heavy burden having a duty to continue with showing a potential of manufacturer and that's what McErlean and Munster got as works drivers. McErlean does good for now and he, for sure, wants to continue at that level.
