I already wrote that the regulations in the top class in World Rally Championship will be highly connected to Rally2 cars and that's superb if you ask me. That's because it is/was boring to watch only nine or ten cars in top class and that's it. I remember when there was thirty of forty cars in WRC class at start of 2000's. That's what new leadership of FIA and WRC try to implement to the sport.
Yeah, they said top class car can't cost more then 345k euro and that's it. That's from 2027, of course. That's good. They should stick with that and they will see more privateers in the sport. It was just boring to see dozen of works cars and then lower categories. Rally2 had to be top class some years ago but some team bosses didn't agree with that and that was bad decision to listen to them blindly.
There is also a talk of a new WRC promoter which should come to sport very soon. There is a tender from FIA because current WRC promoter, which is RedBull wants to take some profit after they brought the sport to the highest venues of all time. So the new promoter is on the wait with their plans which then attracts manufacturers and we know that M-Sport works with Ford from 1997 and they want to continue that way as long as possible.
M-Sport team principle Richard Millener thinks that it is possible to run the Rally2 car for the first year of competition under new rules, the same as Hyundai boss says. I think that is OK, so they should start a development (and manufacturing again at the Hyundai side) of that machinery.
Some interesting months are ahead of us. Please stay tuned.
