Lancia to homologate Rally2 machinery for 2026

in Rally22 days ago

Hi, friends!

I rarely give my opinion which rally car manufacturer is dearest to me because I try to be as much as possible professional when giving my opinions here as a blogger at Hive. But yes, this time I have to give my opinion because big news are around the corner.

I liked Lancia Delta HF Integrale so much and that was my favorite car of all time. They won ten manufacturer's titles and after that they stopped with program. The manufacturer that gave so much to the sport made sad millions of fans all around the world.

But now they are back. I wrote a year ago that they will make and homologate the Rally4 machinery for this year and they did exactly that. Lancia Ypsilon is running in the European Rally Championship and in Lancia trophy in Italy and it already very successful project with lots of car orders from manufacturer.

But they did even more to make a project back to the path of glory days of manufacturer. They made Ypsilon Rally2 prototype and the car is currently in the phase of testing but they announced that car could be homologate on first day of January that they can make a debut at Monte Carlo Rallye 2026 which is always at 2nd part of January (each year).

So far the project looks good and drivers like Yoann Bonato works on the testing duties. This is something great to hear but Stelantis Group, owner of Citroen and Lanica is just swapping models on the rallying market which is not good. Yeah, Citroen's Rally2 hologation expires soon and it won't be nice without red Citroen army.

But the thumbs up for Lancia...
