Blast from the past - Seat Ibiza F2 car at Rallya Catalunya 1998

There was a great rally category in second part of nineties called F2 with kit cars with the following specs: normally asphirated engines with approx 280 bhp (Citroen Xsara F2 had 320bhp), front wheel drive, six-speed sequential gearbox and the cars were very light. That's why F2 machinery was able to fight (and sometimes) beat WRC cars, but only on tarmac.

Season 1998 was especially reserved for Seat and their robust Ibiza F2 kit car which dominated the whole season, and especially on gravel. They won the F2 Championship of that year but we must admit that Hari Rovanpera and Oriol Gomez were exceptional drivers at Seat Sport team.

Today we have a video of the team from their round of World Rally Championship, because Seat is a Spanish manufacturer and its great piece of rally history.

Please enjoy...
