Italian Giandomenico Basso is double-European Rally champion and knows how to win the rally in a super tough phase when pressure is over the limit. He showed the same this weekend when he took the won over compatriot Andrea Crugnola who win Rally Roma di Capitale in the two previous occasions.
But Crugnola obviously had spme issues at late regrouping and being late two minutes at the time control, he got 20s penalty. And that was it, lead and win were gone. Crugnola finished 5th overall in the end for himself and Citroën team.
First four cars were all Škoda RS Rally2 machinery, although I am not sure for Roberto Dapra's car because I saw that his car could be older Rally2 evo Fabia.
So, Andrea Mabellini finished 2nd overall, while European Rally Championship leader Miko Marczyk was 3rd in the end. That way Marczyk took lots of points this weekend while Mabellini kept his dream alive of winning the series with the 2nd place finish.
Roberto Dapra finished 4th in another Škoda, and as I said, Crugnola was 5th overall. Nice event to follow but level of ERC is defenitely bellow of WRC level.
