Happy Easter! It's such a great privilege to participate in the Holy Week activities, and to also celebrate Easter in total wellness, and for that, I am most grateful.
So yesterday, I went shopping for a new pair of shoe. No o, not mine but my niece's. Lol. She came around and would be going back to school after the Easter holiday so she requested for a new pair of shoe. "Ah!, a new shoe when it's not yet your birthday?" I asked. She explained that her old shoe was almost wearing out and needed a new one to pair with it.
Moreover, she needed it more now that she's about entering 3rd year in the university. In her words "If I get this shoe now, I won't be needing another one until I graduate". Her thoughtfulness in not wanting more shoes soon touched me. That's really considerate of her and that made me happy to get the shoe for her. By the way, she's studying Public Health in our state university, Abia State University, Uturu.
So I took her to School Road market, a section of the popular Ahịa Ọhụrụ (New Market) in my town. School Road is your one stop market for quality and durable shoes, bags, boxes, including wears - whether it's fairly (okirika), stock or brand new.
Before we visited the market, I asked her about her preferred shoe style, and she said "boyfriend shoes." I thought she would say "girlfriend shoes" or something kinky, not boyfriend shoe. Lol. Anyways, it's her choice and I had to oblige her.
So we headed to the market in search for the boyfriend shoe, and I must say that it was quite a challenge. My niece, just like my mom, has a petit feet, and she wears size 36 or 37 depending on the shoe type, but most shops had larger sizes.
We had to visit multiple stores, trying out different shoes to find the right fit. Some even suggested buying a size 38 and using shoe pads, but I wasn't comfortable with that. I can't imagine using pads for a new shoe, since that would likely make it expand easily.
Thankfully, after more visits, we finally found her size. How relieved I was. After carefully examining the shoe, she excitedly told me that she liked it, and I was happy to see her beaming with a smile.
So here's her pick - a beautiful black colored boyfriend shoe.
She really has eyes for good things, just like her big auntie, Luchyl. 😅.
The shoe actually looked great but its price of ₦14,000 ($8.72) wasn't quite what I'd budgeted for. Still, seeing how much she wanted it, I negotiated a discount and, thankfully, got a fair deal of ₦12,000 ($7.48).
With her new pair of shoes at hand, and a heart-warming smile etched on her face, we headed home. She grinned from ear to ear all the way home, admiring her new shoe while I watched in amusement, happy to have made her day a little brighter. 😅
Thank you for reading.
