In this new round of Feathered Friends I show you the pictures I took of a very small bird that frequents the trees of the community where I live in the city of Maracay.
That morning I went out to the parking area and basketball court of the residences to walk Isis my dog and also to give food to the cats that although they don't have a home are fed and cared for by people from the community.
While walking I see the birds flying from one tree to another and looking for food on the ground. They feed basically on seeds and also on insects.
Several canaries that in Venezuela we call Canarios de tejados (Sicalis flaveola) and also tortolitas (Columbina squamata) were walking around looking for seeds and I took the opportunity to take pictures of them, before they took flight when I got too close.
I heard a fluttering over my head and in a tree with yellow flowers I saw a canary on a branch and took several pictures of it. And this was my best photograph
It is a bright yellow plumaged bird with some orange feathers on its head that characterize this species. Like many birds, this may be a male because of the more colorful plumage.
I also saw a hawk flying near the birds, I wanted to take a picture of it but it flew a bit far away and stopped on the lamp post. This photo was not very sharp but there it is. This is a beautiful bird.
I hope someday to be able to photograph it up close or have a good camera to capture all its gallantry and beauty.

En esta nueva ronda de Amigos emplumados les muestro las fotografías que tomé de un pajarito muy pequeño que frecuenta mucho los árboles de la comunidad donde vivo en la ciudad de Maracay.
Esa mañana salí al área de estacionamiento y cancha de basket de las residencias a pasear a Isis mi perra y también para darle comida a los gatos que aunque no tienen un hogar son alimentados y cuidados por personas de la comunidad.
Mientras caminaba veo a los pájaros volar de un arbol a otro y buscando comida en el piso. Ellos se alimentan básicamente de semillas y también de insectos.
Varios canarios que en Venezuela llamamos Canarios de tejados (Sicalis flaveola) y tambien tortolitas(Columbina squamata) estaban caminando buscando semillas y aproveché de tomarles fotografías, antes de que levantaran vuelo cuando me acercaba mucho.
Escuché un revoloteo sobre mi cabeza y en un árbol de flor amarilla pude ver a un canario sobre una rama y le tomé varias fotografías.
Es un pajaro de plumaje amarillo brillante con algunas plumas de color naranja en su cabeza que caracterizan a esta especie. Como muchas aves, este puede ser un macho por el mayor colorido de su plumaje.
Tambien vi a un halcón volando cerca de los pájaros, quise tomarle una foto pero voló un poco lejos y se paró sobre el poste de la luz. Esta foto no quedó muy nítida pero allí quedó su imágen. Esta es una hermosa ave.
Espero algún día poder fotografiarla de cerca o tener una buena cámara para captar toda su gallardia y belleza.
