Southern Bald Ibis

This unique-looking bird can be recognized for its bald cap and pointed red-pink beard. It is also known for its lack of feathers, although when they are born, they do have gray hair-like feathers on their heads. Around the age of two, they shed these feathers to take on the distinct look that this one has. Hailing from Africa, they can be found in grassland and semi-desert in the mountains of the southern part of the continent.
