THE JEWELED SWAN*** #SMaP Show Me A Photo Contest Round 169

in Feathered Friends6 months ago

Hello to all #featheredfriend lovers from around the globe.

Time to use our imaginations once again for this week's #smap contest. Our theme, provided by @nelinoeva is "birds in art". Nice topic I thought, an interesting and fun change up from our usual themes.

Here's what I came up with

This tiny piece of artwork was a favorite of my mother's. She bought it in 1978, I remember the date well because it was the year my first son arrived. I would see it in her curio cabinet along with other little treasures. The swan's head and tail are brass, the body cut glass, giving it the appearance of jewels as it sits on a round mirror.

Depending on the light, this tiny little guy can show off his exquisite craftsmanship in many different ways. It is quite detailed, right down to his long neck, face, and tail, all done in brass.

Placing the swan on different surfaces can also change his appearance dramatically.

As I write this description, I keep going back to the word tiny. As you can see, he is just over two inches wide, amazing to me how so much detail went into this little gem.

This lovely trinket now lives with me, and I know my mom smiles down from heaven each time I admire this tiny, bejeweled swan.

I hope you enjoyed seeing the swan and felt the love radiate from its sparkle.

Thanks to @barbara-orenya, @sagarkothari88, @melinda010100, @nelinoeva and all who support the #featheredfriends community.

Best wishes to all as we continue our journey together.

Peace, love and #birds

Your little swan reminded me that I have some trinkets too, one of which a swan too, but not so lovely as yours.
So happy you are back. 🙂

What's up Neli, glad you liked my little swan, I love that piece.

Glad to be back, have a beautiful day.

I was missing your entries.🙂

That is very sweet. So tiny, but powerful enough to bring your mother alive. And photogenic!

Good morning @owasco, hope you are doing well.
I love having little trinkets that tell a story or bring back sweet memories. My favs are the ones that were my mom's, she was such a gentle soul, just full of love. It's been 18 years since she passed away and I still miss her, but we talk daily. Sounds nuts? Nah, I know you know what I mean.

Have a peaceful day my friend.

I sure do know what you mean. When someone I love dies, I feel their presence much more strongly. Objects of theirs are especially powerful for that. Something they had touched, written, or enjoyed. I hold the objects, and wonder if they will still have power when everyone who knew the person is gone. There are a great many objects and places in my life that I have no idea who they belonged to, but they still resonate with me.

Amen. Our spirits live on.

What a cute little swan 🦢 How nice that you get to keep this little gem of your mother's.

Hello @alborhada. Thanks for dropping by. I am a saver, I love all the things I have saved over the years, each one has a little story, or a sweet memory attached to it. That swan is one of my favs.

Enjoy the day.

I liked looking at the different shots of the swan. But you know what really caught my attention? How very worn the tape measure was! I don't think I've ever seen one with the paint worn away...

Hahaha, I know right, we probably have a half a dozen tape measures, but I found that one in the junk drawer and was too lazy to go get a nice new one out of the shop. Oh well.

You make me laugh girlfriend. Have a wonderful day and don't over do it.😜

What a beautiful swan, and what beautiful taste your mother had in decoration items. How great, dear friend @farm-mom, that you keep this ornament in your home.
Have a beautiful day

Hi there @jlufer, hope all is well with you.
My mom was such a thoughtful and generous soul, I love having some of her treasures, they always make me smile and think of her when I come across something from the past.

I told my mom all the time "when I grow up, I want to be just like you."

Thanks for your nice comment. Have beautiful day.

Love those older pieces that were so well detailed, crafted with love to give years of pleasure to all who see it.

Thanks for sharing your little gem with us!

I love the old stuff also, it brings back sweet memories.

Always tied to memories, sweet memories! ❤️

Very happy and enjoyable piece of art. ☘️
The person who created it, did had a taste!

Thanks for the nice comment. I think that little swan may have magical powers, it always makes me smile.

Have a great weekend.
