Therapeutic Trees

in Silver Bloggers11 months ago

After a bout of illness it seems a rather difficult for me to get my energy levels back up. For me there is nothing more therapeutic than a walk in nature. However, in the city it's kind of difficult to get close to nature always, we could go to the parks, but these places are crowded on the weekends and the hubs and I avoid them at these times. The best choice then is to take a walk down one of these lanes lined with trees. Thankfully my city, Bangalore is full of trees and greenery. Some lanes in residential areas are less crowded than the others and these are the avenues we choose when it comes to taking a walk.

Come January the Tabebuia rosea starts to bloom. It is just one variety that comes into bloom now, another variety with lighter colored flowers blooms a couple of months later. Even now not all trees are in bloom, just some early bloomers are filled with flowers at this time of the year. It's is such a pretty sight to see lines of these trees in bloom.

It's unbelievable how bunch of trees can make you push your limits. My legs felt so weak that I was barely able to walk more than a couple of hundred feet and yet at the end of the walk I had walked 1.9 kms. The sight of the flower laden trees against the background of a pale blue January sky or a bunch of dark green foliage is like the proverbial carrot to me. When there is beauty around the mind and body seems much lighter, that is how I feel.

The weather is quite pleasant right now even though there are indications that that a hot Indian summer lies ahead of us. Strangely enough we say the same things year after year and yet life goes on. We are hopeful, even positive and believe that the next year would be better. It is this hope that keeps us all going year after year. A little tree here, a little bunch of flowers there add that much needed beauty and charm to our lives.

This is a picture of someone's backyard. I found the light on the tender green banana trees very interesting. The contrast from the older darker leaves added to the beauty of this composition by nature.

A walk in the open even though it is in the polluted city air it is better than being stuck at home. Hearing the rustle of leaves, the birds singing happily, watching the falling leaves making way for spring to put forth new growth all add to the loveliness of a walk in the open. I love watching those rain tree leaves come spiraling down like little descending rockets.

Looking up at the canopy that these trees which are 100 years or so old all around our city is so amazing. Over the years these trees have crossed over and intertwined their branches across the wide main roads. Some of these old trees are dangerous when there are thunderstorms with high wind speeds in summer. The city's corporation takes care of these trees to prevent dead branches from falling on our heads. It must be quite the task, but they do it quite efficiently.

The contrast in color of leaves or just a bunch of flowers are enough to add interest and beauty to these already lovely sights. Each streets boasts of its own kind of beauty some with trees planted haphazardly and yet others with some careful planning.

Then there are these wines which decide to create garlands along the sides of the the roads, swinging from tree to tree. These are mostly morning glories which start to bloom in spring and look so fabulous. My city is so blessed with so many kinds of flowers that these trees sport throughout the year.

I did already see a couple of Jacarandas in bloom. Although it was just a bunch of flowers here and there, not like a tree full of purple blooms as we usually see in February. I can't wait for the Jacarandas to bloom. They are always very special to me.
