I've spent the whole week thinking about this week's community question, and I didn't want to post anything about my parents, but: Who is more important than your dad or your mom, or both of them together? Who can be more unforgettable in your life than the people who gave you life and shaped you into who you are today? What other person had a bigger impact on your life than them?
So I thought to myself: why not? My mother, first and foremost, will be my unforgettable hero, as she taught me everything I know and shaped me into who I am today. Perhaps the way she taught us was criticized, but that was what she learned. Being the oldest of 16 siblings, it took a lot of work helping her mother raise her family, so much so that she couldn't study, but she still raised us with what she learned: dedication, patience, and love.
He taught us principles and values that I've passed on to my children and now to my grandchildren, and even on his deathbed, he instilled in us strength and the ability to face things without complaint. For me, his character is unforgettable more than any other.
My dad, a person devoted to his family, always worked hard to ensure we never lacked anything. But he was my stepfather. Yes, when he married my mom, I was about 7 years old, and from that day on, I knew what it was like to play with such an important figure in a girl's life. He gave us all his last name without denying that we weren't his own children. He gave us love and took care of all our needs without asking why the one who fathered us didn't give us money. He simply adopted us wholeheartedly.
The truth is, not just anyone can do this; he did it without asking. We returned the affection in kind, immediately calling him Dad and respecting him greatly. He never mistreated us physically or verbally; he always let Mom call us out on it. Unforgettable people like them are worth talking about and making known because it shows them how proud I am of them and how grateful I am to God for having had two spectacular beings. They, my parents, are my unforgettable characters.
