Hello everyone and warm welcome to my Larry hunt for monday, the 25th day of June, 2024. England advanced to the final 16 of Euro 2024 by finishing first in Group C, but only after a lacklustre performance against Slovenia in Cologne. The game ended (0-0) at the stroke of time.
In the other match in group C, Serbia, at the Allianz Arena failed to put up a fight as they were knocked out of Euro 2024 following a goalless draw which saw Denmark progress on the night.
Before Tuesday's matches began, all four teams in Group C had a chance of reaching the knockout stages, but Serbia never looked like winning this one. Congratulations 👏 🎉 to the teams that have qualified for the next round so far.
Larry then veers off to have a look at today in #history.
Larry begins his look at today in history from the Korean peninsula. He finds out that on this day in 1950, North Korea launched an invasion southward across the 38th parallel, prompting the UN Security Council (without the Soviet delegate) to issue a resolution urging UN members to aid South Korea.
From the Korean, Larry goes to the world of music and entertainment. He finds out that n this day in 2009, Michael Jackson, the American singer and dancer who gained international recognition as the “King of Pop,” passed away at the age of 50 from a deadly cocktail of anaesthesia and sedatives propofol in Los Angeles, California.
I will leave you with one of his best songs titled: "Heal The World"

From Poland, Larry goes to India. He finds out that on this day in 1931, V.P. Singh, a politician and government official who was Prime Minister of India from 1989–90.was born in Allahabad, India.
Finally, Larry rounds off his look at today in #history from Ireland. He finds out that on this day in Ernest Thomas Sinton Walton, an Irish physicist, and Sir John Douglas Cockcroft of England shared the 1951 Nobel Prize in Physics for developing the first nuclear particle accelerator, known as the Cockcroft-Walton generator.
Having seen all these pieces of historical events, Larry zooms off to begin his daily deliveries.
