I admit, the swinger/BDSM clubs around here are much more tastefully decorated. Or perhaps I should say less decorated altogether. That wall art is...very 80s, if I'm being kind.

But yes, swingers and BDSMers often find themselves using the same facilities, even though the two cultures are quite different. To the outside world, it's all just a bunch of perverts, so we're easily lumped together.

Oh, and don't let those ladies' ages fool you. There are PLENTY of younger folk exploring the swinger and BDSM scenes these days. Things aren't kept nearly as closeted as they were when we were kids. Whether that's for better or worse is yet to be seen...

To give you the simplified version, just think of them as glory holes for ladies. The fellow could either be seated or standing to pleasure the woman, but it's the anonymity that's the draw. Anonymity is not my jam, but I can respect a clever invention just the same.
