        I found those ancient things tough to type on. When computers arrived it was so much easier, even on crappy keyboards that Sinclair Research gifted us with.

              I imagine! In late 80-es I've obtained one (it was electrical, not mechanical), and used it for few years (for myself)... so I feel I am a bit acquaited with such a gadget. Well, a bit :P
