I took a photo of the odd machine and asked Google Lens the closest thing I found was a Comptometer
The Comptometer was a mechanical calculator that was the first to be commercially successful and to have push buttons. It was patented in 1887 and produced until the mid-1970s. The Comptometer could perform basic arithmetic, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. It was fast because each time a key was pressed, the total was accumulated, allowing the operator to press multiple keys at once.
