It's hard to tell what ship it is from your picture of a picture, but based on the single funnel, 4 prominent masts, the dark hull, and presence in a British home, it might be the RMS Carpathia. If so, that is the ship known for responding to the Titanic distress call. So not completely off base?

Yes, more likely.., they all got sunk it seems!

Seems to have been a common hazard for a couple brief periods of years for no apparent reason.
