I wouldn't know, it was a guess.

It's hard to tell what ship it is from your picture of a picture, but based on the single funnel, 4 prominent masts, the dark hull, and presence in a British home, it might be the RMS Carpathia. If so, that is the ship known for responding to the Titanic distress call. So not completely off base?

The Carpathia was sunk during World War I on 17 July 1918 after being torpedoed three times by the German submarine

Could be, though I don't think Mr Williams was around then.

Mystery solved? If I'm reading the scrawled and pixelated caption correctly, it's this ship.

Yes, more likely.., they all got sunk it seems!

Seems to have been a common hazard for a couple brief periods of years for no apparent reason.
