My fear of cats is something I’ve had to struggle with for as long as I can remember. It’s not a very common phobia amongst people, but it’s been a significant part of my life . Growing up, I was never exposed to cats much.

Infact, my family never had or keep any pets, and the few times I had an encounter with cats, they seemed very unpredictable and scary to me. I remember a particular instance in my high school where me and some of my friends where told to take brooms and rakes from the school store.

Initially the school store have cats that they normally use to prevent rats from eating the food items.

As soon as we got there , the cat just sat down with his piercing green eyes, starring and looking as if it wanted to attack me, the worst thing was , it was moving towards my direction. I had to look for a silly excuse to leave there and I didn't even bother to go back there again.

As I grew older, my fear for cats didn’t vanish but instead it seemed to grow and increase.

There was a day , I went to work some months ago, and on getting there, nobody was around yet so I just decided to sit down at the workshop and just make use of that time to go through my phone. I was so invested and carried way with my phone that I didn’t even notice a cat emerging from underneath the chair I was sitting on. My reaction was immediate and very intense. I had to leave my bag behind and ran out, which shows just how deeply this fear affects me.

I don't just like seeing cats all, my biggest ick about them is their eyes , I always avoid having eye contact with them because their eyes always look scary and each time i try to look at them, it always seem as if they want to attack me.

If you are my friend and you tell me you have a cat as a pet or you have cat in your house for any reason at all, just know you will never see me step foot in your house. I will never come to visit you. Infact, I would prefer to be in an environment where dogs are , to where cats are present. Although I love animals and I would love to have rabbits or dogs as pets , but the idea or thought of being around cats is something I always avoid or stay away from.

Recently , i have come across people who speak highly of cats and their deep affection for them even in this blockchain . This has led me to reflect on why I never really connected or liked them in the first place and as a very curious person, I decided to make some research and discovered that cats are indeed friendly and fascinating creatures and I just kind of misunderstood them and judge them by their looks and not by their behaviour.

This new insight has sparked my interest and has made me be determined to overcome my fear and understand cats fully well. I am now eager and willing to explore their true nature and really see them for who they are and the wonderful companions they can be. By learning more about their unique behaviors and the ways by which they show affection, I hope to to uncover the right appreciation for these remarkable animals and embrace the joy they can bring into one’s life.
