Sweet 16

In case you have been living under a rock, the NCAA Men's and Women's basketball tournaments are taking place right now. It has been a flurry of activity over the past week with teams playing pretty much non-stop. In the first two days of the tournament there were often three or four games happening all at the same time. As the weekend started to wind down, we saw just a handful of games happening one after the other.

Now we are down to the Sweet 16 in both the men's and women's bracket. What was previously a swarm of 64 teams has been whittled down to eight key matchups that will determine the course of the next couple of weeks.

In the South Bracket on the Men's side we have Auburn facing Michigan and Ole Miss facing Michigan State. I really hope Michigan loses this weekend because I really don't want to have to watch Michigan State and Michigan play each other again. Obviously, the worst case would be that Michigan State loses, but hopefully that doesn't happen. I think it's ridiculous that they put both these teams in the same bracket in the first place, but what do I know...

In the West we have Florida versus Maryland, and Texas Tech versus Arkansas. The razorbacks have been on a roll lately and I honestly think they might have the advantage going into this game against Texas Tech. There is a good chance I will put a bet down on them.

As for Florida and Maryland, I think it could be a good game, but I am guessing Florida will win. They are just really good and Maryland barely made it to this point.

In the East we have Duke vs. Arizona, and BYU vs. Alabama. In my bracket I have BYU beating Bama, but a lot of people seem to think I am a bit crazy for that prediction. Either way, I think it will be a really good game tomorrow night. I expect Duke will probably handle Arizona quite easily.

Finally, in the Midwest we have Houston vs. Purdue, and Kentucky vs. Tennessee. That Kentucky/Tennessee game should be really good. I think they are going to get a ton of viewers on that one. The Purdue/Houston game. I'm not even going to try and predict. Actually, neither of these games seem that easy to predict for me.

Meanwhile, over on the Ladies side, we have another 16 teams hoping to chase glory.

In Spokane we have UCLA vs. Ole Miss and LSU vs NCST. I haven't watched a ton of the ladies games this year, but if I had to pick the winners, I am going with UCLA and LSU.

In Birmingham 2 we have SC vs. UMD and UNC vs DUKE. Given the fact that Juju was recently sidelined with an ACL injury, I am going to pick Maryland to take down SC. As for that NC/Duke match up. What could be more classic than that?

In Birmingham 3 we have Texas vs Tennessee and Notre Dame vs. TCU. Notre Dame has looked pretty good this year, so I would lean towards them. I also think Tennessee might have a slight edge over Texas. It should be noted both those teams beat Big 10 teams to make it to this point.

Finally, we have Spokane 4 and USC vs. KSU and OU vs. UConn. USC seems the clear favorite over Kansas State, but the Oklahoma/Connecticut game could be a toss up. It might be worth it to tune into that game.

After the Sweet 16 we dive right into the Elite 8 before setting things up for the Final Four next week.

It's crazy to think we are almost at the end of this wild ride already!
