My nieces high school varsity team was in action last night with their first game of the playoffs. It was a matchup against a team that had a similar record to them, but in terms of rankings, they were about 15 spots lower across the state.
It definitely showed with a final score of 46 to 27 or something like that. The Lady Rocks came away victorious and they have their next game on Saturday night. It actually wasn't that pretty of a game. The ladies were all over the place and not much was falling for them. I can't count the number of errant passes and miscues. Thankfully the other team was just as bad or even worse. It could have been a far different outcome for them!
Assuming the game is available to stream, @mrsbozz and I will be sitting on our couch watching all the action come this weekend.
Meanwhile, in women's college basketball, there have been quite a few games this week. Most of them were pretty straight forward, but there were one or two that went into overtime and produced some unexpected results.
I'm a little surprised to see Ohio State sitting in the #2 spot across the nation. I mean, I know Sheldon is a good player and they did beat #4 Iowa, but that is just pretty crazy to me.
I think the big news for tonight is the fact that Iowa plays again against #14 Indiana at 8:00 PM. With the all time scoring record broke, everything Clark does from this point forward is just icing on the cake. She still has a handful of games in the regular season to make it even harder for the next young lady to beat her.
I've been watching LSU a couple times this season and I am actually a bit surprised they are so low at #13. They have looked really good. Either that or the SEC is just horrible. Who knows.
That's all I've got for today. Check back tomorrow when I cover all the action from men's basketball this week. I'll also have a preview of the weekend. You know I will most likely be watching softball versus basketball though. At least during the day anyway!
