I'd like to report a murder...

We weren't really sure what to expect last night when we turned on the softball game that my nieces team was playing in. We were hoping she would be taking the field, but we weren't really sure. Since they didn't have any games over the weekend she had her wisdom teeth taken out on Friday.

The doctor had cleared her to play, but there was still the question as to whether or not her coach would actually put her in the game. He is a bit of a mystery and doesn't always make the wisest decisions you would think a coach should make. I guess we all have our style, but his is completely on another planet.

Plus there is the fact that my niece has been struggling to hit the ball like she used to this season and that has always been a wild card as to what he was going to do. I think the fact that she has been doing so well at short stop was more than enough to give her the opportunity to try and figure out how to turn things around on the offensive side.

After last night, I think/hope it is safe to say that she has things figured out.

She started the game with a long triple. Quite impressive. She also got an RBI on that hit and on the next batter she stole home on a wild pitch.

That's two to zero if you are keeping track of the score.

The other team quickly put up three runs in the bottom of the first inning to make it 2 to 3. Thankfully, after that the Shamrocks put their pedal to the floor and didn't let up one bit. Their opponent failed to score another run.

The next at bat for my niece, she hit a monster of a home run to make the score 4 to 3 in the Rocks favor. I mean she absolutely killed the ball. Even watching via the stream I could tell it was going out of the park as soon as the bat connected with the ball. You could just hear it and feel it. It was pretty amazing.

They continued to put up another 7 runs in that inning making the score 11 to 3 at the end of two or three innings.

I thought sure the next at bat they would intentionally walk my niece, but instead they "accidentally" hit her with a pitch and she was awarded first base. She proceeded to score from first base as I would expect nothing less from her.

The thing that baffles me is the other team never even indicated they wanted to change their pitcher. The catcher didn't even come out to the mound to try and calm her down. It wasn't until the Shamrocks were up 14 to 3 or something like that when they finally changed their pitcher.

My niece had one more at bat in the game. Can you guess what it was? If you guessed she hit another home run you would be correct. That's two in one game. Talk about beast mode! It was so amazing to watch. I am looking forward to getting down there this weekend and catching a couple of her games.

Meanwhile, she plays again tonight and then her sister starts tournament play tomorrow.

I can't wait!

To go from underperforming to getting a triple and then a monster home run followed by another home run is pretty damn impressive. Maybe the wisdom teeth were holding her back.

That's what I'm saying. She has been killing it. I hope she can keep it up in her game tonight. She needs this boost heading into summer ball.
