I know the photo above is from college basketball back in March, but I've been trying to watch a bit more WNBA basketball as the opportunity arises. I was sitting around on a lazy Sunday watching some women's basketball with my brother in law when the Indiana Fever just happened to be playing in a game.
In case you don't know, the Indiana Fever is home to Caitlin Clark the Iowa star who turned the women's basketball world on it's head. I've gotta be honest though, It's getting a bit ridiculous. I feel like a lot of these ladies are starting to act like children. I don't spend a lot of time watching men's basketball, but I don't think they complain quite as much as they do in the WNBA.
It's pretty stupid to see so many technical and flagrant fouls being handed out right and left. In the short span I was watching the game today, they had to stop and go to review at least twice to see if the committed foul was horrible enough to be flagged as a technical or flagrant.
Personally, I feel like we need to be better than that. These are supposed to be grown adults that are doing a professional job. The fact that they would continue to not act like adults is just ridiculous.
I was really hoping that this new class of rookies might bring a little bit of class into the game, but it seems like that isn't the case. At least they are playing aggressively I guess. That seems to be something that went away a long time ago on the men's side of things.
Have you watched any women's games lately? What do you think? Have you been surprised by the number of aggressive fouls that have been getting called?
