I had the opportunity to photograph this beautiful beetle again. This time it was perched on a bougainvillea leaf.

It is an Omophoita_cyanipennis, belonging to the family Chrisomelidae, subfamily Galerucinae. It is one of the so-called "Leaf beetles", "skeletonizing beetles", and "longhorn beetles".
Es un Omophoita_cyanipennis, perteneciente a la familia chrisomelidae, subfamilia galerucinae. Es de los llamados "Escarabajos de las hojas", "escarabajos esqueletizadores", y "escarabajos de cuernos largos".
Chrysomelidae is one of the most numerous beetle families in existence.
Chrisomelidae es una de las familias de escarabajos más numerosas que existe.
They are included in the tribe alcticini ("flea beetles"), since they possess highly developed hind legs that allow them to make great leaps.
Están incluidos en la tribu alcticini, ("escarabajos pulga"), ya que poseen patas traseras muy desarrolladas que les permiten dar grandes saltos.
It is popularly known as the "Eight-spotted flea beetle".
Popularmente es conocido como "Escarabajo pulga de ocho puntos".
They live in wetlands of North, Central, South America and the Caribbean. They are polyphagous and can feed on cabbage leaves, corn, beets, lavender, potatoes, among other things.
Viven en humedales de Norte, Centro, Sudamérica y el caribe. Son polifagos y se pueden alimentar de hojas de repollo, de maíz, remolacha, lavanda, papa, entre otros.
There is a subspecies that has been introduced to Florida, United States,
perhaps as a biological pest control, the Omophoita albicollis.
Existe una subespecie que ha sido introducida en Florida, Estados Unidos,
quizá como control biológico de plagas, el Omophoita albicollis.
