Namaste!
Once again welcome all of you to my kitchen for a few days!
Well, I think you might remember the reason, in case you forgot, let me remind you, actually my wife has gone to her parent's house for the last 2 weeks and she is going to stay there for about 1 more week, so these days I am ruling our kitchen.✌️
This is the first time I have tried to cook at home for so many days in a row and in the last 2 weeks, I have eaten outside food only twice. Yesterday I made cauliflower curry and I forgot to take photos of it but today I am going to tell you something like the recipe of the day before yesterday's dinner.
The names of the dishes here (in India) are very simple. Mainly we call the Sabji (recipe) by the name of the vegetables that are mixed together to make a recipe. Like today's Sabji (curry) is called Potato Cabbage. And it was very very tasty!
Ingredients:
- Potatoes
- Cabbage
- Tomatoes
- Onion
- Carmen Pepper
- Garlic
- Ginger
- Green Chillies
- Coriander Powder
- Fresh Coriander Leaves
- Cumin Seeds
- Garam Masala
- Oil
I hope I haven't forgotten anything.
So first of all I cut all the potatoes into 4 to 6 pieces and cabbage into shreds.
Along with this I also chopped Carmen Pepper, Onion, Tomato, Green Chilli and Ginger Garlic.
Sorry I could not capture every step of the recipe because I am not used to it so sometimes I miss some steps in the flow.
In the photo below, after heating the oil in a pan on low flame, I added cumin seeds and after 1 minute, I added onion, green chillies and ginger garlic.
Then saute the onions on low flame till they little become soft and then add chopped tomatoes to it.
Then right after that, I added all the spices including salt and mixed it properly and left it to cook for 2 to 3 minutes by covering it with a lid.
Then I added chopped potatoes, cabbage and carmen pepper to it and mixed everything well.
This is what the vegetables looked like after mixing with the spice base.
Then I added a little more than half a glass of water and mixed it and covered it again with a lid and left it to cook.
I don't remember the time it took to cook completely as I am just an amateur cook so I also checked every few minutes by removing the lid to make sure it was cooked well. But once it was cooked, I added lots of chopped coriander leaves to it.
Then cooked it for 2 more minutes with some more water. Traditionally this Sabji is made somewhat dry but since I was so tired of making this sabji, so instead of making roti with it, I thought its better to enjoy it with rice so I made it a little gravy.
But whatever, it was a surprise for me that this Sabji turned out so tasty that I sent its photo to my wife and told her not to be jealous but I am having more delicious food today. 😋😁
I hope you enjoyed my tasty blog!😋
