Dark Souls 1 is largely considered the best of the series, I really preferred Dark Souls 3 it was just more polished. Dark Souls 2 was awful, it was done by their B team. The respawning is annoying but that's the charm of the game. It is meant to be hard and unforgiving. Witcher 3 was amazing. Even 2 was great.
