We're introducing some of our latest features: Dynamic Progressive Web Apps, Link Previews, and some of what SPK Networks Decentralized File Storage can achieve.

We are thrilled to announce the release of our latest software features which will revolutionize the way you can interact with DLUX. Our goal to be the best place to distribute software is getting closer and closer.

Dynamic Progressive Web Apps

Our front-end, dlux.io, now has dynamic progressive web apps, providing users with a cache for speed and offline functionality. By leveraging the power of Hive and some clever back-end routing, users can now install all DLUX dApps directly from their web browser, eliminating the need for traditional app stores. This feature enables users to access dApps with a single click, enjoy offline capabilities, and maybe soon receive push notifications, all while enjoying the performance and responsiveness of a native app.

The best part is there is no part. Retroactive to any dApp, there is zero configuration required at this point!

Link Previews

Since all our data is Hive data, our front-end has long been completely static. You get to enjoy a quick and cookie-less user experience, but there were some trade offs. We understand the importance of efficient communication and search engine optimization. With our new link preview feature, users (with well behaved browsers) can now preview the content of a link before clicking on it. Now anybody you share a DLUX link with will be presented with a familiar preview instead of a dry link.

SPK Network - Decentralized File Storage:

The integration of SPK Network continues to shine light on new possibilities. As that network builds out more and more features will becomes possible, especially as the nature of DLUX is to have software sharing the main driver of our collective growth and ability. We don't even know all that is possible with what we have built.

Honeycomb 1.4

Honeycomb 1.4 hopes to take advantage of SPK Network by allowing us to distribute smart contracts, API mechanisms, and virtual operations(the time components of smart contracts) via IPFS. The base layer software now brings new features to each instance/community via a shared config file. Every node operator will be able to install just their config file, and every community can benefit from our continued updates.

Before, if we wanted to have honeycomb as a base for a community, they would have to fork the software and make their changes to it. Which means integrating upstream changes, possibly for security, would have to be done by every community. Now, with a simple consensus of each community new updates can be run from the base repository.

Additional changes include checking Hive API status and cycling through down APIs, as well as retrieving the communities recent blocks from multiple sources for quicker and more reliable starts.

I hope to get our DLUX and DUAT communities on version 1.4 after the holidays.

Hive API and Witness

I am currently in the process of bringing up 2 full Hive APIs with the latest haf infrastructure. Hopefully providing a little more redundancy to the overall network. My witness could always use your vote.

Could be. Maybe we aren't looking at the right milestones. Like I just passed 1000 followers, making Hive my top social network. Outside of price we don't see to care much about fostering new users.

Sure.

The following features are what the proposal is for:

Add features to Honeycomb State Channels
Utilize SPK Network to distribute Smart Contract changes to Honeycomb
Add Honeycomb Wallet features to dlux.io opensource.
PWA distribution
Continue Stability Improvements
Documentation Improvements
HBD Stabilzer

Would you rather have the DHF pay to have the same feature set across all front ends... or bring completely new features to the ecosystem? Among the proposed features only one is for UI, and it's to support layer 2.

But if there is something you'd like to see on our front-end feel free to ask for it. We don't intend to ask for DHF support for features that only benefit dlux.io or it's users at the expense of other front-ends.
