Overtime’s I have always leaned towards using Wi-Fi when I’m at home or in places where a reliable connection is not available. I owned a universal Wi-Fi.
There’s something undeniably satisfying about plugging into a fast, stable network that lets me stream movies, join video calls, and work on multiple devices without a hitch. Wi-Fi, for me, is like the lungs of my online life. Whether I’m downloading, watching movies or browsing the web, the speed and consistency of Wi-Fi are why I loved using it so much.
Lately, I’ve had to reconsider my approach due to a couple of major factors. One of the biggest struggles of relying on Wi-Fi is its cost. If you’re in Nigeria, you will understand what I’m talking about.
With the rising high prices of internet plans, what used to be affordable is quickly becoming a hefty monthly expense. I used to enjoy the freedom that came with unlimited data, but nowadays, keeping up with a fast, stable connection often means paying more than I’d like. Before you could get 1 GB for two hundred naira, but now the price has gone so high.
Because of these financial pressures, I had to get myself back to using mobile data. Mean While mobile data can sometimes be a bit unpredictable—especially when I’m in areas with weak signals or during peak usage hours—it’s proving to be a worthy alternative given my current budget constraints.
Even though there are moments when the speed isn’t as impressive.
Overall , while I still appreciate the unmatched speed and reliability of Wi-Fi—especially for heavy-duty tasks like having to connect more than 2 phones, laptops, or streaming or work—I’ve had to adapt to using mobile data more frequently due to the ever-increasing cost of maintaining a solid Wi-Fi connection. Each option has its trade-offs: Wi-Fi offers superior performance but at a higher price and with the occasional inconvenience of service management, whereas mobile data provides portability and cost savings at the expense of peak performance at times. Balancing these factors has meant finding a middle ground that works for my lifestyle, ensuring I stay connected no matter what the circumstances might be.
