Why Splinterlands is A Testnet For Arcade Colony + Genesis League Sports

in #arcadecolony8 days ago

There is no point of marketing a DAPP if it cannot convert and retain users. Unless the entire funnel is good, spending money on various forms of onboarding is going to result in a misallocation of resources. We have had a very long bear market and even to this day, the interest in cryptocurrency has not reached past the previous highs. It is safe to say that normies are mostly sleeping on what is going on the cryptosphere. The recession like economic conditions around the world may have contributed to the lack of interest.

All of this means @splinterlands @arcadecolony and @gls.goals have a long way left to grow. We have only managed to capture a tiny portion of the total gaming market with hundreds of millions of users. Gaming + cryptocurrency is a match like gaming + internet. The union of these two going mainstream is unavoidable. We are already ahead the curve on HIVE.

The Miniclip of HIVE

Diversification has its place. I don't consider diversification for the sake of it as a good thing. On the other hand, using diversification to mitigate risk and/or explore different creative avenues can end up with great results. Instead of betting on the success of one game, @arcadecolony is betting on the ability of HIVE to power blockchain gaming and even bring Web 2 games into Web 3 in small or big ways.

Single Login for All Arcade Gaming

Single Sign-On (SSO) is a powerful tool that has been near ubiquitous in Web 2. Bringing the same features and UX to Web 3 without compromising security or privacy makes it a pleasure to be a part of blockchain gaming + social media. HIVE is in a great shape to tackle both of these.

AI Tools Makes Searching Easy

Sifting through support articles using regular search engines is a very difficult task (especially if you do not know exactly what to look for). Most normies are not very familiar with navigating documentation or whitepapers. Having this type of extra help can aid players in crucial moments.

Replicating What Worked

Invennium was created to successfully export the technology and the victories we had with @splinterlands into other types of games. HIVE does not have Turing complete smart contracts on Layer 1. Many new innovations had to be done to make a game with NFTs a success on HIVE. We managed to reach over 500,000 players for the game. Aggroedius Lightbringer is currently leading both Arcade Colony and Genesis League Sports. It is very clear that all three projects share similar technology. The chatbot above is very easy to see example.

What If We Recreate 2021 - 2022 For Invennium?

It should be doable since we still have many of the minds behind 2021 - 2022 success we had. Invennium is a fully owned subsidiary of Steem Monsters Corp. We can take the already working elements of @splinterlands and plug them to games on Invennium. A significant part of the code should be easy to port. Everything is built on the same blockchain using similar technologies (outside of Unity).

Excellence in Engagement + Exploration

Leaving threads for the players to follow along where they end up learning more about the game, economy and the technologies behind it at least an order of magnitude more effective than expecting them to read documentation or any of the articles on HIVE. True engagement and exploration is even more effective than making YouTube videos to guide players. The best part is that all of this happens in game.

A Thread I Followed

I did have knowledge that notifications such as this was going to happen. I try to follow the Town Hall events, HIVE articles and many other sources of news. Seeing the notification for the first time beats all the expectations and the best part is that anyone can easily follow along the bread crumbs and figure out all these new aspects of the game.

Above is what the Card look like and the supply count reminds me of many limited edition items where only a handful of items get released. These new Arcane Cards are one of the best things that happened to make the Cards more attractive to collectors. It does not make sense for me when I see people buy NFTs with no utility for millions of dollars when there are good looking Cards such as this with real use cases beyond the collecting.

Mint History Page

All of the above are things I naturally discovered by following the bread crumbs left by the game designers. I did not learn about these from anywhere nor did I need any outside help. The entire process was intuitive to figure out. Stumbling across the market and playing around the filters is another piece of cake for an experienced gamer. There are hundreds of millions of them connected to internet. Some of them will like Collectible Card Games and others would like to invest.

Splinterlands is a Testnet for Invennium

It may be odd to think of the project with higher marketcap as the Testnet since testing is usually done where there is a smaller userbase less financial value. We have a long history of doing things differently on HIVE. For an example, we are the world's first feeless blockchain. At the time we were known as STEEM. We have tested many new innovations. Invennium is already low on funds. They should test the gameplay and copy everything else when possible.

  1. We need to bring in users
  2. We need to get them to invest
  3. We need to keep them around for long

The little things around the gameplay than inform the players and make it easy to manage their assets goes a long way to build confidence to invest and keep them playing around for longer. A great many experiments have been done to improve the UI/UX already. I think we are in a very good state. What we have left to do is double down on the current design choices and spread them around Arcade Colony + Genesis League Sports.

Happy Gaming! Happy Investing!

Will there be tournaments?

I don't even know if it is possible to have Tournaments for some of the games. I think the more PvP focused games should end up with something similar to what @splinterlands has already.
