There are few ways a project can become successful. When it comes to software, an iterative procedure starting with an MVP (Minimum Viable Product) is the most common. I have said that LEO is the Arch Linux of HIVE because the both the developers and users live on the bleeding edge. The price we pay for being on the bleeding edge is having to bleed sometimes. That is not an obstacle; it is the path we thread to stay ahead the curve. Bringing container based microblogging to HIVE barely worked at first. Now we have 3 front ends walking the path Threads created.
Multichain is Hard - Multichain is The Way
Living in a silo can be comforting to some people. It is simpler and more predictable. Over time one could get to know all the main figures involved and the status quo rarely change. Some even enjoy being big fish in a small pond. Even I get to be a medium fish in HIVE and few of its DAPPs. LeoDEX is changing this. It started with @mayaprotocol now we have three more cross chain protocols added to LeoDEX.
Experiencing LeoDEX V3
In order to make the iterative development work, @khaleelkazi and his team need useful feedback. I will try to provide what I can based on my abilities. I want to encourage everyone to offer similar feedback after testing things out. It is best to use small amounts. I recommend $20 - $30 swaps for testing.
Below are some of the details regarding the software being used. I have kept the default settings for the wallet and most browser settings.
- Fedora Linux 41
- Brave Browser
- Ctrl Wallet
Not All Swap Amounts Have A Route
There is a chance that many normies (even some veterans) will assume a swap pair cannot work out if they don't see a route in the first try. The asset pair is the same and it is not happening because of exceeding a threshold. aLEO is only supported through @mayaprotocol at the moment.
Swapping on LeoDEX is a World Class Experience
The strength of LEO has been in the front end. We have a social media DAPP on blockchain that has been mistaken as X (Twitter) by some users. Yet the infrastructure is built and maintained by HIVE. Lions tried to do our own DeFi. I was a big investor in CUB + POLYCUB and used to own over 1% of the supply. It didn't work and us Diamond Paws lost 99.9% of our investment. We learned our lessons. What we are now offering on DeFi is not some PancakeSwap clone. We are offering one of the best in the world supporting wallets with million of users.
This technology + UI/UX will Soon™ combine with INLEO to allow hundreds of millions of existing wallets (used by dozens of millions of users) to log into HIVE with a non custodial account. When things work, it is among the best the world has to offer. Although I have seen comparable experiences for simple swapping, multi wallet support and other more advanced features along with having 4 protocols in 1 makes LeoDEX the greatest DEX UI I have used. We have to iron out the rough edges and then market ourselves to all of cryptosphere.
$100,000 Weekly Revenue is Possible
A realistic goal for LeoDEX would be to have the best UI/UX for swapping with low enough fees and wide enough marketing reach.
- We can give #feedback to improve/fix the LeoDEX
- Changing fees can be done with a "stroke of a pen".
- Marketing will need some viral luck or mass onboarding to INLEO.
The biggest strength of LeoDEX is that the most important backend work has been outsourced to projects that collectively spend millions of development and attract millions more in liquidity. All we have to do is provide the best front end. Most of our biggest successes as a community has been seen in the front end space. Lions need to be playing to our strengths.
$9,303 in One Day on The Smallest DEX Integration
This has been our best day so far. THORChain volumes are an order of magnitude larger than @mayaprotocol. The difficult part about $100,000 per weak is consistency. We have to onboard a few Whales that trade regularly. It will not be easy, but when it is done LeoDEX will generate several times its marketcap in a matter of months.
Be Prepared to Wait for The "Best"
The "Outbound Queue" had me waiting for 14 minutes. Swap itself was under 3 minutes as estimated earlier. Do not select "Best" route if you are in a hurry. The actual swap can take a little longer than the estimated duration. What users receive for their patience is minimum slippage.
aLEO Needs to Get Its Logo Fixed
This section should be self explanatory. It could be the fault of these other UIs rather than LEO's. Grandma wouldn't understand that. We need those grandmas buying $LEO and preferably stake it.
LEO Bridge is Fine-ish
This bridge was created during the past DeFi adventures where we tried to do all the backend work and learned the lessons the hard way. The design itself is simple and effective. UX itself was not that great.
I attempted multiple times to use LEO Bridge with different values. They all resulted in the same outcome of Ctrl Wallet being unable to estimate the fee. I could not confirm the transaction.
Then came the magic solution. After some time, the fee could be estimated. I did not make any changes other than attempting different amounts of aLEO to unwrap. Suddenly everything was working fine for all amounts and I could sign the transaction. The transaction was almost as fast as HIVE (yet infinitely more expensive compared to "free").
$LEO Power Up With An Important Milestone Ahead
There are different "Ranks" of Lions based on static amounts of $LEO staked. There is a version of dynamic staking tiers for LeoDEX in the works. I think it would be easier to have static tiers as an MVP and get DEX users to buy and unwrap some aLEO. We can have a note that the tiers will be switched to a dynamic system later.
Rank | Leo Power |
---|---|
Kitten | 1,000 |
Newborn Cub | 2,000 |
Cub | 5,000 |
Lion | 15,000 |
Leader of the Pack | 50,000 |
Apex Lion | 150,000 |
I have 14,034 LEO Power at the moment. @khaleelkazi offered to match match LEO buys upto 2,000 LEO for those who used LeoDEX and then Power Up. I would like to receive this gift Powered Up and become a Lion! As for the veteran Lions, I have small request:
Keep Calm, Test and Provide Feedback!
