Reflection Hunters Contest-Round 218

in Shadow Hunters10 days ago

Hello everyone at #shadow hunters community what a joy to join #ReflectionHuntersContest led by Mrs. @olgavita something that I really enjoy when we go to the city.
It began discreetly. When I turned my head, there was a tiny lag, and when I was not moving, my reflection flickered. At first, I thought it was just fatigue, the strange tricks that fatigue can do to your eyes. But it continued. I started to let my reflection take on a life of its own.
I brushed my teeth one morning and noticed a sly smile on my reflection. A slow, intentional lip-curve that I most definitely had not started. My ribs clashed with my heart. The smirk persisted, a silent, unnerving challenge, even though I tried harder to believe it was my imagination.
Days became weeks, and the events became more daring. My reflection would occasionally make a faint sigh, which is a sound I never made, mouth words I had not said, and have its eyes wander to objects I was not looking at. It was similar to having a silent, shadowy twin imprisoned behind the glass, watching, maybe even passing judgment.
It became a luxury to sleep. Every bathroom visit and every shop window look was tinged with nervousness. What would be the new expression? What silent thought might flash across its face? I began to live outside of my own field of vision and steer clear of mirrors.
The day I saw it reach out came next. With a slight variation—its fingers were a bit longer, and its nails were a bit darker—its translucent hand pressed against the cool glass, just like mine. I felt a chilling dread come over me. This was no longer an optical illusion. There was something going on with my reflection, and consequently with me. The boundary between the looking-glass world and reality was becoming more hazy, and I was afraid of what would happen when it finally broke.
