Vibes Taking Us Back To The 2000s

in Vibes10 days ago

One thing I love about the Vibes community is the way they make us go back the memory lane. What's more amazing and funnier is when I see the GenZs doing covers of songs that were released years before most came into existence and they put in their very best to make those entries.

Well, it is another time again to get back your time machine, strap in, and get ready to go back with vibes on a lovely adventure back to the 2000s.

Music In The 2000s
Let me tell you a brief history of the kinds of music in the early thousands so grab your popcorn and read through.

We can say that the early 2000s was indeed the beginning of a chain reaction for music in general, bringing together the old-school sounds and setting the stage for how we listen to music today. This year even brought abought new inventions of how we listen to music. One of the things that brought about change and gave fresh blood the chance to grow was reality TV shows like American Idol amongst others.

Hip-hop and R&B took over like a virus. Eminem, Jay-Z, and 50 Cent took rap to new heights, while Usher, Beyonce, and Alicia Keys redefined modern R&B and they did a good job of making the acceptance of the new style to be acceptable.

As I said earlier, one of the biggest shifts was how people consumed (listened to) music. CDs started to take a nose dive as MP3s, and others came into the game and came to stay. Suddenly, anyone could download a song instantly, and that shook up the entire music industry. It was the start of the phase of streaming we live in today. From nowhere, electronic music started coming out and we started having songs we could vibe to with dance steps.

In as much as I was a kid back then, looking back, the early 2000s was a time of huge change, music was evolving, technology was coming up, and artists were not settled with the norms but were coming up with new sounds, and its influence is still felt today.

I don't think I will be recommending any songs this week since there are just some days left and most people would have already selected their covers but if I were to, I would only do for the ones in my country Nigeria that weren't left out during this evolution. One artist that stood out was 2face Idibia with his single Africa Queen. This song shocked the nation and permit me to say the continent. 2face significantly placed Nigeria on the music chart with this.

Another was (past tense because they are now separated) P-Square ft. Rick Ross's beautiful "Onyinye" and "Chop My Money." These 2 were part of the duo's greatest hits. One thing I noticed about the Nigerian classics is that most of the ones that did well are love-related songs, maybe because they were very relatable, and I guess this is so in other countries.

If I were to enter the musical competition, I would enter with the above trying to bring back memories in the African Community but if I want to go globally, I would go with Lonely by Akon. As I said, love songs were the order of the day.

Thank you for reading till this point. Just let me know which you covered or which one you are considering. Thank you Verbal-D and Lordbutterfly for this privilege for us writers. Much appreciated.

See you all in the comment sections (mine and yours). chao chao 👋👋👋
