You see, some things may not mean much to others they might even look like “just one ordinary thing” to someone else, but to us, the owner,I mean the person holding it close, it means the world to us, that is how I feel about one particular wrapper I currently own, see It is not designer, it is not new, and to be honest, it might fade with time. But to me, it carries so much value.
This wrapper was given to me by my mom....
Okay ,now let me explain, my mom is the real definition of selflessness,I swear, she does not have much in fact, she hardly even gets anything for herself,see she is the just type of person that will always put her children first before even thinking of herself, so the fact that she gave me that wrapper, knowing fully well she doesn’t have plenty, makes it even more special to me.
See this, It is not about the wrapper itself, it is about the love and sacrifice behind it, she just gave me something that could have stayed with her, something that she might have needed later on, but she gave it to me anyway, see that kind of act just touches the heart in a kind of different way.
Sometimes when I fold the wrapper and keep it after waking up in the morning, I just smile and say, “One day, I will bless this woman.” because truly, she deserves it, I do not even think I can count how many times my mom has given up her comfort for her children, she has done things silently and without complaint, just so we can have peace of mind.
See I keep praying and asking God every day to bless me on time so I can start doing things for my parents, I want to buy my mom beautiful wrappers not just only one, but many, I want to see her smile as she folds them into her box and picks which one to wear for church or for events, I want to be able to take care of her without her asking, that is my dream.
Yeah….. and I believe that the day will come, I just have to keep working hard and believing that everything will fall in place, because this woman that just gave me just one wrapper from her heart deserves the world.
So yes , while others may see it as “just cloth,” to me, it is a symbol of love, sacrifice, and hope, and until I am able to give her more, I will hold that one wrapper like gold.
