Lately, it feels like everywhere I look, there are machines at work. The quiet hills I’m so used to are now filled with the sound of construction, metal against stone, engines humming, roads being carved out bit by bit. It’s not just one place, it’s everywhere. In some spots, they’re digging up the ground to replace old pipes, and in others, entirely new roads are taking shape where there used to be nothing but uneven paths.
हाल ही में ऐसा लगने लगा है कि जहाँ भी नजर जाती है, वहाँ मशीनें काम करती दिखाई देती हैं। जिन शांत पहाड़ियों की मुझे आदत है, वे अब निर्माण की आवाज़ों से भर गई हैं पत्थर से टकराती धातु, मशीनों की गूंज, और धीरे-धीरे बनती सड़कें। यह सिर्फ एक जगह की बात नहीं है, यह हर तरफ हो रहा है। कहीं ज़मीन खोदकर पुराने पाइप बदले जा रहे हैं, तो कहीं उन रास्तों पर नई सड़कें बन रही हैं जहाँ पहले सिर्फ ऊबड़-खाबड़ पगडंडियाँ हुआ करती थीं।
There’s a strange mix of emotions in all of this. On one hand, development is necessary. Better roads, improved infrastructure, it all makes life easier. But on the other hand, there’s a quiet charm in these hills that feels like it’s slowly being interrupted. The stillness is being replaced by motion, the untouched by the constructed.
इस सब में एक अजीब सा भावों का मिश्रण है। एक तरफ विकास ज़रूरी हैl बेहतर सड़कें, सुधरा हुआ ढांचा, ये सब ज़िंदगी को आसान बनाते हैं। लेकिन दूसरी तरफ, इन पहाड़ियों की जो शांत सुंदरता है, ऐसा लगता है जैसे वह धीरे-धीरे टूट रही है। जो ठहराव था, वह अब हलचल में बदल रहा है, और जो कभी बिल्कुल अछूता था, वह अब बनावट में बदलता जा रहा है।
