Us All

Us All

It comes for Us all, no matter our past,
The Good, the Bad, and the Beautiful alike.
No stone left unturned, No darkness unlit,
Hide you may try, yet endless the sight.

A life loved, a million moments shared,
Smiles and Tears, both in sadness and for joy,
The cup was half-full until it was knocked,
And on the ground in a thousand pieces lay.

A life despised, every moment with pain,
No Family to love, No Friends to care,
The glass mostly empty and cupboards all bare,
No victory speech as the end appears.

Meaning may be more, but it is all meaningless,
The Bright and the Fools fall just the same.
We can Lift the Stones, and Light the Dark,
But never enough to escape our Fate.

Nailed it.

Death is inevitable, and it is something we all face. No matter how we live, whether we are kind or cruel, rich or struggling, it comes for everyone. It also doesn't matter about the race or colour.

The part i like most is where you made contrast different lives: one filled with love and joy, the other with pain and loneliness.

And I guess this should make us reflect on what kind of life we choose to live, and what we choose to give meaning to.

Yes, we only have limited time to live on earth, but the insatiable nature of humans makes it difficult for us to be satisfied with what we have and go through crook means of survival.

My grandfather recently passed away and though I wasn't close to him it did send my mind to some similar places as this poem.

Without prying, which side would you put him in - half full, or mostly empty?

It probably depends on which part of his life you are talking about. It's actually a pretty complex situation.

That is where my limitations come into play, I can't understand poetry no matter how much I try 😀

:D

Would it be the same if it was in your mother tongue? It is true for many though, because there is some level of lateral thinking, and maybe the more technical types think laterally in a more structured way?

Yes, it was the same in my mother tongue. You are probably right it probably does have to do with how different brains function.

"Escaping our fate*

I am not sure whether it is fate, but I couldn't change some things in my life till now, and I don't know whether I will be in the future. I call it being lucky in life though.

It is funny how many don't believe in luck - as if they are the masters of their own destiny, without recognising all the things out of their control that led them to today.

The concentric circle of life Mr. Tarazkp, who is the only one capable of defeating death, giving eternal circularity to life. Death transcends us and somehow helps us overcome time.

Change is inevitable - death is part of the process.

A good poem, but a bit dark. Over the years I have come to the idea that the end is different for all of us. And there is something else beyond the end.

I have moved away from that belief and assume that the end is the same for all.

Note: Most of my poems are a bit dark :)

There's a really great Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds "Death is not the end". I love the finality and inevitable ending you poem has.

It is funny - despite being an Australian, I don't know much Nick Cave! :D
I will have a listen though, as I do like a couple of their songs that come to mind :)

I like how enigmatic this poem is, and how that leads to a kind of duality. It obviously beats around the themes of death, but in a way, it doesn't necessarily make life out to always be better. "A life despised, every moment with pain." It's the hurt of not dying.

The verse that stood out the most for me is Meaning may be more, but it is all meaningless.

I think we sometimes reach a point in our lives when we realize the futility of many of the things we're chasing don't really matter in the grand scheme of life.
