The holidays are fast approaching, and with them, little by little, the usual work dynamic is slowing down. There is a kind of collective pause in the air, as if everyone were beginning to slow down, breathe more slowly, and let themselves be enveloped by the Christmas spirit. However, in our case, we can't stop completely. Our work is directly linked to the island's tourist infrastructure, which means we must always be alert, available, and ready to deal with any eventuality, whether it's an emergency or simply carrying out our scheduled routines. For this reason, I'm joining the initiative of our friend @tattoodjay
That morning, we left home early. The weather was beautiful, with clear skies that made the journey more pleasant. I couldn't resist taking some photos to share later, because the day really deserved it. The light was perfect and everything seemed to shine with a special charm.

Ya se van acercando cada día más las fechas festivas, y con ella, poco a poco, va disminuyendo la dinámica habitual de trabajo. Se siente en el ambiente una especie de pausa colectiva, como si todo el mundo comenzara a bajar el ritmo, a respirar más despacio, a dejarse envolver por el espíritu navideño. Sin embargo, en nuestro caso, no podemos detenernos del todo. Nuestro trabajo está directamente vinculado con la infraestructura turística de la Isla, y eso significa que debemos estar siempre atentos, disponibles y listos para atender cualquier eventualidad, ya sea una emergencia o simplemente cumplir con las rutinas programadas. Por esta razón me uno a la iniciativa de nuestro amigo @tattoodjay
Esa mañana salimos de casa temprano. El clima era hermoso, con un cielo despejado que hacía más agradable el trayecto. No pude resistirme a tomar algunas fotos para compartirlas luego, porque realmente el día lo merecía. La luz era perfecta y todo parecía brillar con un encanto especial.
Our only scheduled task for that day was to perform routine maintenance at the Parque Costa Azul shopping center. As usual, we had to measure chlorine levels, check the values, and carry out the corresponding chlorination process. It's a job that's now part of our daily routine, but it's still important, especially in busy places like this.
Nuestra única tarea programada para ese día era realizar la rutina de mantenimiento en el centro comercial Parque Costa Azul. Como de costumbre, debíamos medir los niveles de cloro, verificar los valores y hacer el proceso de cloración correspondiente. Es un trabajo que ya forma parte de nuestra cotidianidad, pero que no deja de ser importante, sobre todo en lugares tan concurridos como este.
Entering the mall at this time of year is a different experience. The atmosphere is completely transformed. The Christmas decorations, the lights, the soft music playing in the background—everything contributes to creating a magical atmosphere. It's impossible not to get caught up in the festive spirit. We walk through the aisles, pass by the carefully decorated candy house, take some photos, and smile at the sight of the enormous nutcrackers guarding the entrances. These little moments are also part of the day.
Entrar al centro comercial en esta época del año es una experiencia distinta. El ambiente se transforma por completo. Las decoraciones navideñas, las luces, la música suave que se escucha de fondo, todo contribuye a crear una atmósfera mágica. Es inevitable dejarse llevar por ese espíritu festivo. Caminamos por los pasillos, pasamos por la casita de caramelos decorada con esmero, nos tomamos algunas fotos y sonreímos al ver los enormes cascanueces que custodian las entradas. Esos pequeños momentos también son parte del día.
Once we had finished our work at the shopping center, we set off on our journey home. On the way, we stopped a couple of times to admire the scenery. The island has that charming mix of urban and natural elements: modern buildings rising up, palm trees swaying in the wind, and mountains visible in the distance.
Una vez finalizada nuestra labor en el centro comercial, emprendimos el regreso a casa. En el camino, nos detuvimos un par de veces para admirar los paisajes. La Isla tiene esa mezcla encantadora de lo urbano con lo natural; edificios modernos que se alzan, palmeras que se mecen con el viento, y montañas que se dibujan a lo lejos.
When we got home, Luis was already waiting for us. We had an important repair job to do: fixing a filter that we had decided to do at home. The patio is spacious and well ventilated, which is ideal for this type of work, especially because of the strong smell of the resin that is used. From the beginning, we knew that I would not be able to get directly involved in the repair, as my allergies prevent me from doing so. Contact with certain chemicals affects me quite a bit, so my role was more of a logistical support.
While Luis took care of the heavy lifting—sanding, preparing the surface, applying the cloths and resin—I focused on preparing something to eat and observing from a safe distance. I like to see how a damaged object is transformed into something useful again. It's almost like watching a work of art in progress. The filter turned out great. Now we just have to wait a couple of days for it to dry thoroughly, paint it, and get it ready for installation.
Al llegar a casa, Luis ya nos esperaba. Teníamos pendiente una reparación importante; el arreglo de un filtro que habíamos decidido hacer en casa. El patio es amplio y ventilado, lo cual es ideal para este tipo de trabajos, sobre todo por el fuerte olor de la resina que se utiliza. Desde el principio sabíamos que yo no podría involucrarme directamente en la reparación, ya que mis alergias no me lo permiten. El contacto con ciertos productos químicos me afecta bastante, así que mi papel fue más bien de apoyo logístico.
Mientras Luis se encargaba del trabajo pesado —lijar, preparar la superficie, aplicar los paños y la resina— yo me dediqué a preparar algo de comer y a observar desde una distancia prudente. Me gusta ver cómo se transforma un objeto dañado en algo útil nuevamente. Es casi como ver una obra de arte en proceso. El filtro quedó excelente. Ahora solo falta esperar un par de días para que seque bien, pintarlo y dejarlo listo para su instalación.
We are very pleased with the result. It is gratifying to see how, with effort and dedication, things that seem complicated at first can be achieved. That is why I wanted to share this experience with you, because it is also part of our daily lives, part of that work that often goes unnoticed but is essential for everything to function properly.
It is nice to do our work in these festive days, everything flows very well.

Nos sentimos muy satisfechos con el resultado. Es gratificante ver cómo, con esfuerzo y dedicación, se logran cosas que parecen complicadas al principio.
