New Game Update
This recent maintenance update had some very interesting changes to the game. And the one thing that really stood out to me was the battle screen interface.

Battle Screen for Mobile

Before, when I needed to watch a battle in mobile, I had to turn my screen into landscape mode. But the new interface in portrait mode looks amazing with a compact and minimalist design. I was hesitant at first with their goal of attracting mobile users to the game but this new update made me realize that it is really possible.

But there are a few problems that I currently encounter with this as well. First, the battle sequence on mobile became slower compared to before. And on the desktop browser, the card images and ability icons don't load properly and I am left looking at blanks. Despite these flaws, I am still very happy with the modernization update as the performance side of things can gradually be optimized and improved.

Thoughts on Using Cryptic
I've mentioned in a previous post that I have been delegated a max level Cryptic summoner for attending Aftersound's ghost card tournament. I've never really rented any Rebellion cards for my modern and wild ranked battles. This is probably the first time that I've really experienced the maximum potential of a tactics summoner.

Cryptic's passive abilities, enemy speed debuff and blind, are really synergistic with one another. It's perfect for evasion-centered cards. The ones I've really used a lot are phase monsters like Djinn Oshannus and Coeurl Lurker. It's sometimes hard to fit in a card just for the blind ability as it may disrupt the lineup. Having it on a summoner is really handy and something that I would prefer than a minus two speed debuff.

For the tactics, I don't really use the retaliate-enfeeble pair as melee monsters are not as threatening as magic and ranged ones. I always go with the poison-expose option in each match. Granting poison attacks to two monsters of my choice is a game-changer. It can easily dispatch frontline tanks or back units when given to cards with sneak, opportunity, or snipe. And with the speed advantage, poison can easily be applied to the enemies. The other ability, expose, is something that I've really paid attention to yet. Again, it is very synergistic as immunity can now be removed, allowing poison to push through.

Again, I'm very satisfied with how the team is slowly rolling out tech modernization changes each scheduled maintenance. For sure it is not as smooth as we'd expect, but I'm expecting improvements in the coming weeks and months, which hopefully would coincide with the bull run.
